Inventor-patent-technology network has three layer of networks.

Within the inventor layer, there are academical genealogical relations (see for example, [Mathematics Genealogy Project] and [The Academic Family Tree]) or financial genealogical relations like which company hold large portion of which other companies.

Within the patent layer, there are citation relations among patent docs. It might be necessary to also consider identification of backbone citation network between patents.

Within the technology layer, there are logical connections among technology domain.

Between inventor and patents, the relation is inventor-invent-patents.

Between patents and technologies, the relation is patent-works on-technologies.

When combined with Author-paper-concept network, it becomes a Publication-patent network.
